Home :: Ayurveda Ayurveda in General Terms:Ayurveda is an ancient science of healing practiced in South Asia influentially. Ayurveda comprises of two words Ayur meaning age and, Veda meaning science. Together meaning the "Science for life" tracing its roots to the Vedas, and Atharva Veda in particular. Ayurveda attributes to a belief that things like water, air, fire, the stars, the planets, etc can be correlated to the human body. The human body is an epitome of the entire Universe, and the Universe possesses a living being like conscience. How does it work?Ayurveda takes up an integrated approach to treat and even protect illness using natural therapies. It is believed that there are three basic types of Doshas (energy types) in every human being, namely vata, pitta, and kapha, out of which only 1-2 are dominant in an individual. The imbalance in the Body Doshas is what is termed as diseases. The practitioners of ayurveda prescribe herbs and remedies for these diseases, and work upon reducing the imbalance in the Doshas. The Concept of Health and Diseases:In the view of Ayurveda, each and every person is unique in its own way, with a unique set of life circumstances and mind-body constitution.
