Prevention

A vaccine is a good preventive measure against meningitis which must be given to every child at the age of around 15 months. A safe and effective vaccine may be able to protect you against four of the five most common strains of the disease. The effective vaccine protection period ranges from 3-5 years. The meningococcal vaccine does not provide protection against viral meningitis.
