Amenorrhea - Menstrual Disorder

Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation or scanty discharge.

Type of Amenorrhea or scanty discharge -

  • Primary Amenorrhea
  • secondary Amenorrhea

Primary amenorrhea occurs when a girl does not have her period by age 16 or begin to menstruate. By the age 14, if a girl shows no signs of sexual development like breast and uterine development should be evaluated for primary amenorrhea and be evaluated by a doctor.

Secondary Amenorrhea occur in certain cases like if a girl having her period regular but become irregular for at least three cycles.

Causes and Symptoms

Anemia and general ill health are some of the main causes. It is also found with certain serious diseases like Tuberculosis, malaria of a prolonged nature.

The symptoms of Amenorrhea -

  • Lack of bleeding

  • Too little bleeding

  • Excessive Bleeding

  • Painful menstruation

  • Menstrual pattern irregular

  • Menstruation disorder

  • Ovary damage

In cases of menstruation disorder or scanty discharge of menstrual blood, if anemia is the cause, the treatment for anemia is a prerequisite to the treatment of amenorrhea and if it is due to prolonged malaria, they have given rise to scanty and painful discharge so it is treated first. General tonics and remedies should be administered for improving the health in the cases where the cause is not known.

Ayurvedic Home Remedies

The treatment given to the women a week before the period is due as follow -

  • 6 grams of flex seeds

  • 250 ml. of water

  • 20 grams of jaggery

  • 20 grams of ghee

Recipe -

It is also effective in inducing the menstrual flow. Take a decoction of flex seeds, boil the water until it reduced to half and then mixed with jagger and Ghee. It should be taken daily. Alternatively, for about a week mixture of seeds of carrot and jaggery (10 grams) should be taken. It shows its effect.
